Summer All-Star Teams (Baseball and Softball)

General Information

Three tournament teams are selected to participate in the Little League District 6 Tournament, one at each of the following age groups:  Majors (10-12 years old); 9-11 Years Old; and 8-10 Years Old.  Teams who win the District Tournament move on to play in further tournaments (Sectionals, States, Regionals, etc.).  Teams begin practices in early June and the season concludes at the time of elimination, which could be early July or as late as August depending on team success.  State tournaments, should a team qualify, are held during the final week of July.

Player Commitment

With limited exception, players are expected to participate in all practices and all games.  Any days which might conflict with a game or practice must be disclosed at the time of registration; misrepresenting availability may constitute grounds for removal from the team.  Team practices and games are typically 5-7 days per week and off-days are at the discretion of the team manager.

Player availability is a significant factor in the player selection process.

Registration and Player Selection

Registration will open on the SLL website in early May.  An email will be sent in advance of registration.  All registered players will be placed on a ballot for player and manager voting.  The results of the player and manager voting will be tabulated by members of the SLL Board of Directors who do not have a child involved in the selection process for that child's age group.  The tabulated results will determine a set of automatically-qualifying players (subject to player availability).  The balance of each team is selected at a meeting composed of all Division Managers and a small group of SLL Directors.  All parents of players being considered are dismissed from the meeting while their child is discussed.

Depending upon the composition of the registered players in different divisions, a tryout may be held.  Invitations for a tryout will be issued based on the results of the player and manager voting.  Tryout dates (if any) will be published in early May and a tryout, if needed, will be held in late May.
For 2024, a try-out will be held for the 8-10 team (and, if applicable, AAA 11 year-olds) on Friday, May 24 at 5:30 on Field 5 (Rain Location is D-Bat in Bloomfield).  Invitations (based on voting results) will be extended during the week of May 19 once voting is complete.

Players who are not registered by the registration deadline are ineligible for consideration.
There is no cost for initial registration. Payment will be collected after teams are formed.

Spring Managers and Coaches who wish to Manage an All-Star team must also apply by the registration deadline.

Playing Time

All playing time will be at the complete discretion of the team's manager, subject to Little League Tournament Rules for playing time.  All players bat in a continuous batting order; there is no requirement that a player plays in the field.
