Simsbury LIttle League - Fall Baseball Information
Fall Ball is great opportunity for our players to continue to develop their skills and prepare for the jump to AAA and Majors in the spring.
Early July: Fall Ball Registration Opens
Late August: Team notifications will be made
If you wish to volunteer as a manager or coach for fall ball you must complete a volunteer application. Applications that are filled out for the spring season are still valid for the fall season. The volunteer application can be found on the Volunteer tab on SLL home page.
Baseball age can be determined using the Age Chart found on the Documents Tab. We will not make any exceptions to the age chart, and players must play in the specified division below for their age.
AA Division (Ages 7-8)
Players who are baseball age 7 and 8 are eligible for the AA Division. This division is designed for the players who played baseball in the spring and will be playing AA next spring. It is a great division for those players who want to work on certain baseball skills. The teams will be formed by the Fall Ball Director. There will be two games on the weekend - Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons.
AAA (Ages 9-10)
Players who are baseball age 9 and 10 are eligible for the AAA Division. This division is designed for the AA player who is moving up to AAA and the AAA player looking to improve their skills. Games will be on Saturday and Thursday evening. There will be two practices during the week.
Majors Division (Ages 10-11)
Players who are baseball age 10 and 11 are eligible for the Majors Division. This division is designed for the players who are moving up to Majors or who played Majors in the spring. The teams are formed via a draft. Games will be on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday afternoon. There is one additional practice during the week.
Babe Ruth Baseball (Ages 12)
Players who are baseball age 12 should register for the Babe Ruth League. This is a separate organization (http://simsburybaberuth.com/) and the registration is not through Simsbury Little League. Babe Ruth is structured similar to SLL and is a recreational league where everyone who registers makes a team. Because players play up in the fall, if you were baseball age 12 in the spring, you must move on to Babe Ruth in the fall. Babe Ruth has a developmental program to get kids used to the larger field in the fall, so it is most benefical for kids to move up at this time so that they are ready for the spring season. For that reason, we will not accomodate these players in our fall league.
Our SLL mission statement is very much in line with Little League International philosophy of promoting, developing, and supervising the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball. Our town has enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with surrounding town’s Little League programs who regularly send us outstanding athletes to participate in our Fall Ball Program. Our Fall Baseball program is designed to provide each player the opportunity to improve their baseball skills in a safe environment that also helps to prepare each of these athletes for the next level of competition.
